Wedding Songs

Posted over 5 years ago
I have been working alot of weddings at work lately and so I get to witness alot of first dances between couples. I love to dream about my own wedding and so I have been compiling a list of songs that I would use on my dream wedding CD. Mind you this is a list of super sappy slow songs, not the kind you turn on when you are ready to party.Oh, it is love-HellogoodbyeSo quirky and soft, the kind of song I want a boy to sing about me. Clean and fresh.Chasing Cars-Snow PatrolMakes me think of lying on a grassy hillside on a spring day just holding hands and having time stand still.Be Be Your Love-Rachel YamagataA haunting song about forbidden love. She's Always A Woman-Billy JoelWho doesn't love a song filled with brutal honesty, sugar coated with love.I Just Don't Think I'll Ever Get Over You-Colin HayA very sad sad song. 'If I lived till I was 102I just don't think I'll ever get over you'Secret Garden-Bruce SpringsteenInspired by a great movie. I always cry at the end of this song.Someone To Watch Over Me-Rickie Lee JonesI first learned of this song through Rosemary Clooney, who does it well. But Rickie's slightly nasaly voice really captures the loneliness of the song.So Are You To Me-EastmountainsouthShort and sweet.Fix You-ColdplayA song of hope, can apply to so many situations, but I think every marriage should start off with hope.Amie-Damien RiceI could lisen to Damien Rice nonstop for days at a time.

  1. SWozniak says "Fix You" always struck me as a song of pain/parting, or dissatisfaction in a relationship. And "Secret Garden" always struck me as kind of a "she's never gonna let you in" kinda song. Lotta wedding song posts lately. Cool.

  2. lemontwist says Oh She's Always A Woman is a fantastic song. Great list! I don't think I could ever pick a song... I'd probably want to go for something crazy and upbeat and fun that me and my future hubby could mosh to or something. :) Crowd surfing at a wedding, that'd be fun!

  4. edieandy says I just got married in April, and our wedding processional was "First Day of My Life," by Bright Eyes; our recessional was "If There's Such a Thing as Love," by the Magnetic Fields. We didn't have an official dance song (we didn't want the attention", but our reception playlist was full of indie-romantic gems... Oh, and our party-favor was a mix cd of all of our favorite mushy stuff!

  5. Eclectic Chick says I really, really love "Inside of Love" by Nada Surf and "Brighter Than Sunshine" from Aqualung... they're more on the pop-y side of things (and Aqualung is more mainstream) and they maybe awkward to slow dance to, but since I have no rhythm, I'd go with those...
