WHERE THE HOKEY POKEY "IS" WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT

Jam bands... roots with blues, folk, and rock - all mixed up into a soulful and interesting brew...

About the time I was discovering Led Zeppelin, ZZ Top, Black Sabbath, Traffic, Jethro Tull, CSN&Y... a funky interesting group was emerging into consciousness:

Fleetwood Mac is jammin' at its core, and is a real musical chameleon. Before Fleetwood Mac Fleetwood Mac, and before the extraordinary-light-speed trip to fame, there was a different color of Fleetwood Mac.

Listen to Revelation, or most of the tracks of Penguin, dig around in the album bins and look at the lineup of the early 70s... Each time I return to that music, I find something that resonates today.

Listen, lather, rinse, repeat.

P.S. Christine McVie has a definitive voice, if you look up the word sultry, it would probably have her picture there.

Mac didn't quite have Stevie until after Mystery to me (I forget which album after that I think Stevie came on during Heroes Are Hard to Find, 1974 or so).

During Penguin and Mystery to Me there were: * Bob Welch - Guitar, Vocals * Bob Weston - Lead Guitar, Slide Guitar * Christine McVie - Keyboards, Vocals * John McVie - Bass * Mick Fleetwood - Percussion, Drums

They've had about a zillion members, are related to the bluesbreakers, and really have a storied and interesting quilt of a past...

Man, Bob Welch sang with a voice of emotion during those two albums...
