I'm sure others have been noticing, but there has been a big influx of 80's songs that have been revamped for modern day audiences in multiple types of media.I was watching TV the other day, and while I was waiting for The Office to come back from commercial, I see a commercial for a new game for the XBox 360, called Gears of War. It was an okay ad, but what I loved was the song used: Mad World, originally done by Tears for Fears and covered by Michael Andrews for the Donnie Darko soundtrack.Then...in the movie theatre a couple days ago watching a surprisingly good movie, Stranger Than Fiction, with Will Ferrell and the delicious Maggie Gyllenhaal. Harold crick begins to play a classic 80's one-hit-wonder by the under appreciated Wreckless Eric, Whole Wide World. It was great! I might add that Ms. Gyllenhaal liked it as well!I really enjoy this whole "movement", if you will, because the songs covered aren't the ones you would expect. Sure, you could see someone eventually doing a cover of Come On Eileen, or Blitzkrieg Bop, but who thinks Against All Odds, by Phil Collins, like Postal Service did? Well, to be honest...plenty did. Mariah Carey, Montell Jordan, and about ten others, but Postal Service really did it justice.I can't wait till somebody wises up and covers Journey's, Wheel In the Sky...it'll be HUGE!!!Kisses,J Bragg
