WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Concert DVDs

Posted over 3 years ago
So, I blew some cash on Depeche Mode concert DVDs a few days ago - I picked up 101, Devotional and Touring the Angel - and I've got to say I'm very impressed.I'm not normally a fan of live music -- in person, it's great, but via recording it usually really suffers from the lack of polish and remastering. Depeche Mode is one of the exceptions to the rule, though; their live music has all the pop and sizzle of their studio releases, and Dave Gahan's voice is actually good enough not to need a million layers of backing tracks.

  1. mktackabery says anybody who digs the house mates is cool with me. But I'm not sure I trust you on Depeche, I've seen some vids of them that were just awful! I'll have to check it out.

  2. jestyr says Old Depeche Mode stuff can be scary as hell - their guitarist observed that their 80s and early 90s career consisted of their stylists and clip directors trying to make them look as ridiculous as possible - but their recent work (actually, basically everything from about 95 onwards) is polished, stylish, and definitely worth checking out.
