*KINGS OF LEON* Because of the Times*Knocked Up*Definitley my favourite song on the album. Impeccable sounds.. Engulfing sounds.. Edgy sounds.. Lyrics are very true, from the narrators opinion anyway. "Always mad and usually drunk but I love her like no other" Very well delivered. Driving song. Climatic parts galore. I just love everything about this song. Ingenius, as I will go on to say many a time during this defined album review. *Charmer*This song is so bold, brave and AWESOME! I love this song because besides it being a really really good song, the screaming just makes it an adrenalin rush! You don't know how hard this is to type!! My fingers are shaking and trying to keep up with the timing as I type! The music at the ending is... heavenly. *On Call*Basically one of my all time favourite bass riffs, the one at the begginning. Makes me jump around and sing.. Awesome lyrics and the vocals are perfect to get me going. The vocal overlaps without working it too hard really does the job, and the guitar solo is awesome without being too obnoxious, then it stops and there bass is there to pick up the pieces. *McFearless*Has a true name. The song is fearless, and makes you feel invincible. The psychadelic guitar at the start that continues throughout never gets old, very unusual - but it was pulled off. The very early climax works because of the drums, I think. The light yet edgy vocals wouldn't work if the drums weren't the same. The layout of this song, if you think about it, is very repetetive. If you don't think about it you don't notice it. Therefore it's basically not a repetetive song. Which means its awesome. *Black Thumbnail*Intro is very head-tapping in a small-town-café type of way. But then the song really catches you, not to mention the flawless vocals which are raw the whole time that completely squash the small-town-café intro. It's quite Aha Shake Heartbreak in a way, but a kind of.. revolution off it. In most songs from Because of the Times you can hear Milk but this song is too upbeat. The solo is making me sweat - it's intense! I think the drums being so simple, and the guitar - really makes it. *My Party*The intro makes me laugh. The weird vocal effects along with the rythmic drums are definitely head-bop worthy. The lyrics "You never seem to call now that I'm okay" is so true. The rest of the lyrics are so shut-down (insulting). It's simple but is so catchy. I think the musical bits are so much that they are.. right for the song? Making up lost talent in the song? It's just right, anyway. The cowbell and wailing towards the end .. genius? Well, it's Kings of Leon. What's new?*True Love Way*Prom slow-dance song? Haha. That's the first thought I had. But a few seconds later it's truned to be an easy night drive song.. "We'd be so free.. happy alone.. sharing a smile.. so far from home." The lyrics are really emphasized by the guitar in the verses, then in the chorus the lyrics are really.. shifty? I really like the calmness of this song, while it being really heavy. Which is a hard mix to pull off. *Ragoo*The guitar riff to this is positively perfect. Total radio hit. "They're way too young but I'm way too old to preach.." Just shows the awesomness of this song. I like the xylophone, it emphasizes the cuteness.. The fading works too.*Fans*A favourite of mine. The lyrics are awesome. Summery-afternoon-drive song. Foot-tapping, head-bopping and finger clicking song. That's pretty hard to achieve! I think the subtle yet inquisitive vocals makes the song. If it weren't for Caleb's vocals, the band WOULD NOT be what they are, but, saying that, anyone taken out of the band would make it.. aah! I don't even want to think about it! "Homegrown.. rock to the rythym and bop to the beat of the radio.." *The Runner*Sway. Just sway. *Trunk*Mexican standoff? Haha. Then a bit of spicy elevator music, graduates onto vocals of the century.. Oooooooohooooohohooooo.. It's a bit spiteful in a way, yet.. sombre. Well, that's the vibe I get. *Camaro*Probably my most disliked song of the album. "Jump right in the deep end" type of song I reckon. It just gets on with it. *Arizona*Good ending song. It's mixed and matched. I like the subtle achievement of the tone. Mostly instrumental, which is cool. Especially the coolness.. Cool as in breeze not awesome. But still awesome.. Agh! You know what I mean! You appreciate peoples music genius so much more when you pick apart an album like this. I just cannot get over how completely unique and innovative Kings of Leon really are. Basically Beacuse of the Times is one of my top 3 albums of all time. Every single song has it's own world, and the album is totally ingenius.
