My first-ever review for Harp is up now at the magazine's website.

It's a review of Califone's Roots & Crowns, a wonderful record that has grown on me steadily since I got it. "The Orchids", which is a Psychic TV cover, is getting all the press, but I might just like the percussion-heavy, hallucenogenic "Pink & Sour" better...depends on the day. Anyway, it's nice to see some hard-core musicians getting attention, instead of all that shiny, surface-y, gimmicky stuff that usually grabs all the ink.
I interviewed Tim Rutili once for Splendid, around the release of Heron King. I don't think he likes talking to reporters, but it turned out okay in the end.

Hi Jenny, well done review, congrats!

Nice review, and thanks for posting the Splendid interview! I've probably made a bit of an ass of myself by gushing so much about how much I love Califone, so it's nice to see someone else praising them in a less embarrassing way. I really appreciate how much you got him to talk about what they do in the studio--I feel like I know a few of these magicians' tricks now. Congrats on the Harp gig...
