WHERE THE HOKEY POKEY "IS" WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT

Artist:
Album:

Last year, Akron/Family almost landed two albums in my top ten, their self-titled debut and the rougher, more exuberant split with Michael Gira's Angels of Light. It didn't seem fair, and anyway, I was having a lot of trouble reducing my list to ten, so very late in the year, I just switched the split with the debut, which had been holding down #2 all year to that point. This is not really very interesting, but the point is that Akron/Family is a really exciting, challenging band, changing so fast from record to record that you can hardly keep up and working about as hard as it is possible for four 20-something guys to work.

I talked to Miles Seaton recently about Akron/Family's new album Meek Warrior and the results of that interview are here:

I also interviewed Seth fairly early on for Splendid, so if you feel like going back, back into time (and don't mind the lightly edited Q&A format), here's that one, too:

There are some real audio clips in the second one, but they're all from the first album.

Thanks. They seem like great guys, in addition to everything else. I'd like to see them do well.
