Album: Through the Wilderness: A Tribute to Madonna
Track:
(18)

Just received an advance of Through the Wilderness: A Tribute to Madonna and, let’s be honest, I am normally not that interested in anything to do with the material girl. But this is pretty cool, a collection of 15 covers by artists including Ariel Pink, Giant Drag, the Tyde and Lavender Diamond. Also in the bonus column, 23% of the proceeds go to Malawi Rising, an African AIDS charity that Madonna supports.

Track listing “La Isla Bonita,” Jonathan Wilson “Into the Groove,” Jeremy Jay “Beautiful Stranger Blues,” Golden Animals “Live to Tell,” Winter Flowers “Material Girl,” Mountain Party “Everybody,” Ariel Pink “Oh Father,” Giant Drag “Hung Up,” The Tyde “Lucky Star,” Alexandra Hope “Borderline,” Chapin Sisters “Who’s that Girl?” Bubonic Plague “Dress You Up,” Apollo Heights “Crazy for You” Lion of Panshir “Like a Prayer,” Lavender Diamond

And here’s the Lavender Diamond cut.

It's a very nice performance by Becky Stark. She has such a beautiful voice.

The Giant Drag tune is really good. Mind you, it is one of the few Madonna songs i dig in the original version, but she really owns it and dows change it a bit without making it unrecognizeable.

Thanks Jack...I don't think it's her best, but she does have a nice voice, doesn't she?

And Juepucta, how cool that you've already heard this.

I think this may be the one and only time I post about Madonna
