This weekend, the editors at Dusted asked a bunch of us to contribute a paragraph on our favorite records of the year so far. The feature, which went up today, has entries for records you'll probably have heard of (Panda Bear, Devin the Dude), and others that will most likely be new to you. But don't be scared. It's just music, really, and these guys have excellent, if somewhat off-the-beaten-path taste. The albums included were:
Keith Rowe, "The Room" David Kilgour, "The Far Now" Devin the Dude, "Waiting to Inhale" Panda Bear, "Person Pitch" Babicz, "A Cheerful Temper" Omar Souleyman, "Highway to Hassake" Glenn Jones, "Against Which the Sea Continually Beats" Alistair Crosbie, "This Quiet House (The Lonesome Age Of Mirrors – Volume One, The Study Of Cycles (The Lonesome Age Of Mirrors – Volume Two)" Tinawaren, "Aman Imam" VA, "Tales from the Australian Underground: Vol. 1 (Singles 1976-1989) / Vol. 2 (1977-1990)"
Here's the feature: http://www.dustedmagazine.com/features/628
Mine was David Kilgour, and I can personally vouch for that, plus Panda Bear, Souleyman and Jones.

My Trusted MOGs
Pretty cool stuff, I've got some catching up but to do, thanks for posting! My personal favs would be James Blackshaw, Islaja, Jesu, Electrelane, Colleen, Deerhunter....in no particular order
My Trusted MOGs
That Jesu is my #2 so far, and I am ashamed to say that I haven't heard anything else on your list (except maybe one MP3 of Deerhunter?).
Here's the rest of my laundry list for mid-year, if anyone's interested. It's not really in order and a couple of these records are not actually out yet (Liars and Angels of Light, for instance).
David Kilgour, The Far Now Jesu, Conqueror The National, Boxer Panda Bear, Person Pitch Arbouretum, Rites of Uncovering Papercuts, Can't Go Back Liars, Liars Angels of Light, We Are Him Palomar, All Things, Forests John Doe, A Year in the Wilderness Paul Duncan, Above the Trees Paula Frazier & Tarnation, Now It's Time My Teenage Stride, Ears Like Golden Bats
Also, I'm sort of enjoying the new White Stripes and I've been playing QOTSA to death in the car.
My Trusted MOGs
