Nightingales

Posted over 3 years ago
Out of True, by Birmingham post-punkers the Nightingales, is a fantastic record that seems to be falling under the radar. They've been playing it a ton on WFMU (always a good sign) but no one else is talking about it. It's sort of in the sarcastic, percussive vein of the Fall...but not really.Anyway, here's my Dusted review, which has a couple of typo/brain kind of issues in it:http://www.dustedmagazine.com/reviews/3236Here's a live MP3 of "Born Again in Birmingham"http://www.thenightingales.org.uk/sounds/bab.mp3(And if you back up the menu to "sounds" there are a bunch of others.)And finally, here's an interview I did with Robert Lloyd a couple of years ago, which is mostly about his old band, The Prefects, but was also one of the most entertaining interviews I've ever had. http://www.splendidmagazine.com/features/prefects

  2. jenny says Thanks, Michael, I figured *you'd* read this, even if no one else did. I know nothing at all about Four Seasons, though Robert did tell me that, at one point, he had been on John Peel's show more than anyone but Kevin Coyne...so it wouldn't surprise me if there were a lot of unreleased material floating around. We've got to get Mr. Lloyd onto MOG somehow, don't you think? jenny

  4. francksauzee says I'm a bit late here but there was his "Me and My Mouth!" album. It is just credited to Robert Lloyd but it does contain songs that he also did as Robert Lloyd and the New Four Seasons for John Peel. Let me know if anyone wants a rip of it.
