Last summer, I had the great privilege of talking to Ramblin' Jack Elliott, one of the last surviving pioneers of America's 1960s folk renaissance. I'd say I interviewed him, but really what happened was I called him up on the phone and he told me stories for half an hour. It was sort of like talking to a really cool great-uncle or something, except that his stories were about people like Alan Lomax, Woody Guthrie, Bob Dylan and Jerry Garcia. Anyway, here's a link to my article: http://www.neumu.com/datastream/index.shtml#01Ramblin' Jack's got an excellent (and relatively new) album out on Anti called I Stand Alone, with cameo appearances by Lucinda Williams, Flea and others. There are a couple of MP3s up at the label:"Careless Darling"http://www.anti.com/download.php?id=288"Rake and Rambling Boy"http://www.anti.com/download.php?id=320
