  1. jenny says I feed you the hype...you send me the classics, doesn't seem like a fair switch, somehow.

  3. juepucta says Great post Jenny - but i think you've got the title of the track wrong though. I am not enough of a Heartbreakers fan to be able to tell you which track it is but it is definitely not "You Can't Put Your Arms Around A Memory". Take care :) -G.

  4. jenny says Juepucta, you're right. The track is "Pirate Love". (Which is what it says, actually). However, it did come from Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers: Live at Max's Kansas City, which is what I put into the tags, but it got changed somehow to (album name) You Can't Put Your Arms Around a Memory. I think the tags work most of the time, but not always...what can you do?

  5. RobP says You Can't Put Your Arms Around A Memory, in addition to being an absolutely fantastic ballad from Johnny's So Alone lp, is also the title of one of those let's cash in on the dead guy best of albums, I believe, since to the best of my knowledge there is no good best of Johnny Thunders lp that isn't stuffed with poorly recorded versions of a too stoned to play it right band live filler. Oddly, I saw Johnny several times and even when he couldn't stand up he could still play. I think the Mog automatic tagging kicks in sometimes when they don't have the album in their system; I've had it happen, gone back, edited the tag, and had it come back the way they'd had it wrong the first time. Feh, sometimes it's like people are more reliable than the machines they program. Look out, I'll be quoting Heinlein soon. Hey Jen, I'm working with a friend who knows the guys in Drunk Horse, which includes some of the guys in Howlin Rain; thanks to you I was able to get him a copy of the new album same day I got it. And that guy who compared the vocals to Steve Marriott was dead on and I'd missed it, which surprises me cuz I loved Small Faces. The Ladyhawk stuff is good too, thanky. Did you get that Creation track from Clif? Just a guess. Original version of Pirate Love was on LAMF, fastest solo on the record; this live version wasn't on the original release of the live lp, was added on with bonus tracks from another gig.

  7. jenny says Hi, Rob. Glad you're enjoying that stuff. I wasn't sure about the Ladyhawk, to be honest. I thought it had a couple of good songs (the first two), but kind of sagged near the end. But I didn't actually know what I thought about it until after I'd sent you the extra (like I have room for even *one* copy of all the stuff people send me, let alone two), and I thought you liked Black Mountain. I bought a Creation comp shortly after reading a book that had a chapter on them...can't remember the name, but I've blogged about it...but I can see the Clif connection definitely. I love that song, anyway. It sounds like alternative universe Who doesn't it?
