The Dirtbombs are back

Posted about 4 years ago
It's been an awfully long while since the last proper Dirtbombs album, though their massive singles compilation a couple years back did manage to plug the gap. But anyway, this February, the long drought ends with We Have You Surrounded on In the Red, and it's pretty great. It is not, as far as I can tell, the bubblegum album that Mick Collins was promising a couple of years ago as the final installment in the Dirtbombs saga. So who knows maybe it's not the last. Let's hope not.

  3. jenny says The whole record is excellent, except for the next to the last song, which is so bizarre and difficult that you can practically see the band's collective middle finger in the air. But, you know, what's the skip button for anyway?

  4. 1234chainsaw says Yay! I won't be around for their SF show in May, but luck's on my side this time: I'll be in DC when they play there. I just scored a ticket, and am excited as hell.

  8. highoctane says I found the new record to be very disappointing. The band just can't match the spark of their early material. Mick should have put the Dirtbombs to bed after Ultraglide. This has been his longest commitment yet and it's really starting to show.

  9. jenny says High Octane, that's your call, but maybe you just liked the soul songs they were covering on Ultraglide and not the band itself? This one is a total kick for me. Except for that second-to-last song.
