Elusive Neutral Milk Hotel lead singer performed Sunday in Columbus [video]

Posted over 1 year ago

The fine, fine folks over at i guess i'm floating are reporting the legendarily reclusive Neutral Milk Hotel Frontman Jeff Mangum played for a crowd at the Elephant 6 show Sunday night in Columbus, OH

Some of you are aware that Apples In Stereo frontman Robert Schneider, a fellow resident of Lexington, KY and co-founder of Elephant 6 Recording Company with Mangum, has embarked on a brief tour called the Elephant 6 Orchestra presents: "Holiday Surprise". Naturally, one would hope to see Mangum join the extensive orchestra (surprise!) and (so far) it looks like he has. I'm not sure what his role is within the show, which artist is playing what, or how all of the Elephant 6 musicians are performing but I'll be sure to find out soon; luckily, the final tour date for the tour is this Thursday in Lexington at The Red Mile and it's for FREE! You can bet I'll be there getting the scoop, but until then you can watch Mangum performing "Engine" last night in Columbus, OH. He's still lurking in the shadows but that doesn't seem to matter when it sounds oh, so good. Tour ending grand finale of a full length NMH concert in Lexington, anyone? I'd hope so!

Man, that'd be great, but I wont hold my breath.  If NMH toured with My Bloody Valentine, the indie world and blogs would implode.

I think this might have something to do with the Large Hadron Collider causing black holes.

i videotaped an interview with Schneider over the summer and when i asked him about NMH, he was very polite but the subtext was definitely don't hold your breath...

but in 2 years time... perhaps?

To be honest with you, this has made my millenium, and I would be happy solely with this dark youtube video, if Jeff decides never to perform again. However....2 years time would be ok for me as well ;)

Anna - maybe, just maybe, these recent appearances by Jeff are an indication that things have progressed since your interview?
