Black Kids want you to Listen To Your Body Tonight

Posted almost 4 years ago

The Black Kids' new (highly anticipated) album, Partie Traumatic has hit the ground running. Although the blog-hype (and also backlash speculation) are absolutely out of control, the Jacksonville Fla group have offered up an album of better than good disposable neo-dance music. With all the hype surrounding this band based around a 4 song myspace e.p., one may speculate if the Kids are even remotely ready for what's going to be thrown at them, but from what I've heard, they might be ready for it.

Let's apply the formula:

Check off all that apply:

hand-claps (check)

synth beats (check)

male singer/female singer (check)

80's drums (check)

club lyrics (check)

remixable (check)

anthemic chorus (check)

"speaks to the kids" (check)

Robert Smith impression (check)

New Wave asthetics (check)

what more does one need to be considered a damn good summer 2008 album?

they'd be better if it were more stripped down & dirty like their grimey demo - (personally) I was a little offput by how "trendy" their actual album sounded on first listen - then again I was also rockin that Joan as a pilot er whatever you and *b* reccommended & will certainly give them another few chances - cuz this for me was a much anticipated album !!!!

Plus their lyrics read like a movie out of the 80's.....and for the record I am not going to teach your boyfirend how to dance
