Garcia, Weir, and Los Lobos....jammin on some Guthrie

Posted about 4 years ago
This is a weird little tidbit of music that I've been hoarding for a couple of years. I thought I'd share it, because, well, I'm on a bit of a "Dead" streak, and what good is music if you can't share it with people who love, and live, music, right???The Grateful Dead rolled into Foxboro, Mass on July 2nd, 1989 to start the '89 Summer Tour. Big album, big plans, and a big tour were the foreshadowing of what was to become one of the most exciting tours in the latter part of Dead history. This little nugget of music came to me in a trade a while back, and the only info that I have on this recording is that it was filmed for Fourth of July broadcast on "Nightline with Ted Koppel". What I didn't know until now, is that the footage of this broadcast is now available on YouTube... isn't technology effin' amazing... It's nice to hear a couple of takes, a couple of fuck-ups, a few diversions, and then to be able to see the finished product! Enjoy...--------------------------------Jerry Garcia, Bob Wier, and Los Lobos, Sullivan Stadium Parking Lot, Foxboro, Mass, July 2nd 1989ThisLandIsYourLand_Take1_.mp3ThisLandIsYourLand_Take2_.mp3ComeOnBabyLetTheGoodTimesRoll.mp3SittinOnTopOfTheWorld.mp3ThisLandIsYourLand_Take3_.mp3ThisLandIsYourLand_Take4_.mp3-------------------------------This Land Is Your Land (Take 4)-------------------------------

  4. fairportfan says Way back when, when i was reading a magaziner article about *Los Lobos*, and the magazine asked the band members to list their five favourite bands, at least two of 'em listed *Fairport Convention*. I loved that. I was sorta nervous about this; i was afraid it was gonna be a dog's dinner like Garcia and Grisman made of Blue Yodel #9 on a Jimmie Rodgers tribute album: ~CJytu90J2N4.mp3~

  5. Jonh Ingham says Very nice. Los Lobos don't attract the same attention but they've been together as long as the Dead. That's a family.
