WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Goodnight (Ryan), this Bar is Closed....

Posted 11 months ago

Now I'm not very excited about my decision to pass on February Ryan Adams tickets. But there comes a time in a man's life (and I'm talking Ryan, here), where he needs to walk away from his labour of love. Goodnight Ryan. Thanks for the wonderful times you've given me. Now, I'll have to enjoy them solely through the headphones, and never again through the amplifiers. So be it. That's the way it needs to be. Enjoy your time off.

Devoted fan.

Sad day for all of us Ryan Adams fans. I wanted to see him live this year. Although I did have the honor of seeing live at ACL festival a few years back, it was just after he had healed from his wrist injury. He's so funny and could tell that he loved playing. Let's hope this is a short lived retirement.

Maybe he'll release that box set of rare and unreleased material that's been in tha can for years.

Jesse Winchester said it best...in his song...A Showman's Life....

and I highly reccomend Buddy Miller's cover of same!

    A showman’s life,
    Is a smokey bar,
    And the fevered chase,
    Of a tiny star,
    It’s a hotel room,
    And a lonely wife,
    From what I’ve seen,
    Of a showman’s life,

Nobody told me about this part,
They told me all about the pretty girls,
    And the wine,
    And the money,
    And the good times,
    There’s no mention of,
    All the wear and tear,
On an old honky tonker’s heart,
Well I might of known it,
But nobody told me about this part,

    A boy will dream,
    As children do,
    Of a great white way,
    Until the dream comes true,
    And a phony smile,
    In a colored light,
    Is all there is,
    To a showman’s life,
Nobody told me about this part,

Nobody told me about this part,
They told me all about the pretty girls,
    And the wine,
    And the money,
    And the good times,
    There’s no mention of,
    All the wear and tear,
On an old honky tonker’s heart,
Well I might of known it,
But nobody told me about this part,

What!? I got a ticket to see him in march. Is that not happening now? Are you taking a break from him, or is he taking a break from us? I'm confused. Help me out here Jameson!
