Dropkick Murphys: State of MassachusettsYesterday, the fan-boy in me began to surface. I spent much of the day ruminating over the latest Dropkick Murphys disc _The Meanest Of Times_. Well, many of you shared similar thoughts, and I was so grateful for that. You see, that's what makes our little community so beautiful: so many different people sharing the same love for so many different types of music. Today I blog about Dropkicks, tomorrow I may blog about Ali Farka Toure, or The Grateful Dead, or Descendants....and so many of you will share in that love. That's what I love about this place. deadmandeadman says Jameson, you are so correct in your observation. Our 'community' here is a marvel & a wonder. I kinow my chances of getting into a serious dialogue about music with a greek goddess in my flesh & blood world aren't that promising. We all have had conversations with people who we would scarcely interact with in the corporeal world, right? Real heart to hearts with such a wide cross-section of the planet's populace is awesome. For me to hear a twenty-something diggin' into the roots of it all (music) just pleases me no end. To discover Hooverphonic because two of my trusted MOGS opened a window is priceless. To rediscover a Todd Rundgren or a Jules Shears because my trusteds have such a high opinion is why I'm here. To help tout cds of local faves is a wicked cool thing to do. This place just RAWKS so much.
