So...about a week ago - Viva Voce rocked the fresh, young faces off of The Shin's fans. It was an awesome set. Me being one of the eight people of the hundreds there to have prior knowledge of V.V's tendancy to do just this thing, I was prepared, but nun-the-less found myself faceless after their 45 minutes. They did not get to any material off their stellar first album Lover's Lead the Way. However they did acknowledge the old man bellowing out the song titles from that album with a nice smile and a telling nod. What was the nod saying? I'm guessing it was either...hell yeah! He know! or jesus please shut up. Either way...good times.Anita is a rediculous guitarist. She absolutly was all over that thing, eliciting yelps of approval from the guy and gals in the crowd. The girl has some chops...and a very "Jimmy Page" sort of stage persona. Her ol'man laid down a solid rhythm while simultaniously singing, playing rhythm guitar, harmonica or keys....a rediculous thing to behold.I got to say hey to Kevin after the show, and he very graciously endured my geeking out on him. A swell fella that guy.We skipped the Shin's in favor of a local band across town for a third of the price. Yup, I'm like that. All in all...was it worth the Shins price tag - $30 a piece? For me - yup - my girlfriend paid!!! What a gal. I absolutly endorse everyone going out and catching them in any venue they can. If you're a shin's fan...get there early - you just might learn somethin!
