As someone who just got out a relationship, I can't recommend any other song or artist for that matter besides A Fine Frenzy. This beautiful woman has delicate but clear vocals that beg you to catch every word she sings. Almost Lover is haunting, recalling every vivid moment in this relationship in a way that will have you doing the same. You hear her heartache and close your eyes knowing her words echo through your own soul and open them know it will all get better soon.
I have a friend, SM. SM thinks Mos Def is overrated and has doesn't make it lyrically. I can't change his opinion, but I can give reasons why I think he's wrong. Dollar Day is the perfect example of a song where Mos Def takes an issue and mixes beautiful, clever lyrics and combines them with razor sharp take on the situation and his unique way of making music. A sexy, raspy voiced story intros the song and from there you hear Mos's take on Katrina. Maybe you don't agree with what he's saying, but the way he says it is entrancing and worth listening to every word.
