Darren Hayes at the London Pride 2007

Posted over 4 years ago
Hey everyone, gosh I am still knackered!! I came back from London last night and made it home at half midnight, this finally happened after about 41 hours and a half wake. Was it worth it? Absolutely!!So this is how it went and my impressions. On Friday after work i went straight home, fed the babies and packed my stuff, i tried not to fall asleep on the couch and kept busy because my coach to London left at 1.30am!! *yawns*I could have gurgled tonx of coffee but coffee usually ends up making me pee a lot and it ain't no good before a 4 and a half trip by bus.So i tried my best without the amazing aid of caffeine and I must say I made it.I was hoping to have a nap during the trip but nope! I was set next to someone who smelt of garlic and really couldn't sleep...YAK!So when finally at 6am i made it to beautiful London all I truly, madly, deeply, desperately, absolutely needed was.. TOILET N BREAKFAST!I got the daily newspapers and headed to a shopping centre in Victoria station, there i did what i longed for and had some nice full english breakie ahhhhh that only regenerated me.By the time i left the place to head to Trafalgar Square and see what was going on it was about 9am.I was a bit concerned cus of the bomb thread.I am gonna say my bit on this: people haven't been put off by it, it was all going as planned and i felt so proud of being living in this place and part of a country whose people don't accept bullying from anyone and everyone who doesn't respect the holy right of a human being to believe in their own God, and love whoever they want .I have been to many gay prides in Manchester and felt in this country finally the freedom of being who I am, a bisexual woman and a wiccan. In Italy there was always a sort of forced hiding from my real self in order to keep everyone happy.Yesterday i realised how happy makes me feel just myself and being loved as just being myself and nothing else.Anyhoo back to the Pride... I arrived and it was still raining badly so i tried to find myself a little corner to wait until I could find out when we would have been allowed in and also who was gonna be there. For a moment I thought, hey where are all Darren Hayes fans? Cus we usually are the first on lie when he performs and he was gonna perform on the main stage. No one was there so I roamed around and took a good browse through the event. After about an hour I saw some girls I recognised as fans from Japan, in fact they were fans (hello Tomo, Mel and sorry i can't remember the other girl's name but.. HI!)We hooked up and as ever it wasn't hard to start the usual chit chat and we did have a great time except the torrential rain catching up with Darren and non related stuff.I also had a big surprise, cus my friend Ema, which i didn't know was gonna be there showed up as well. She is from Rome like me and she has being telling me stuff about the Pride in Rome, the first one, and I hope next year I can go to that as well.It is always nice, when you live abroad being able to speak your own lingo!!!!! :D With her there were also two other italian friends Maria and Manu so... A proper italian delegation as well as a Japanese was present lolIt rained a lot and i got myself as wet as I could get, even my underwear was all dump but as i was having fun at the end i didn't really care.Although i must admit i am feeling i bit run down today and also aching everywhere, I think I am getting to old to be a fan!!So we waited and waited and the guys from Darren's band started the sound check, our expert ears detected the familiar sound of D's music immediately.I have to say I find the guy that plays the guitar a cheekey cutie, Steve I think it is his name, Justin Shave was wearing shades... with that weather? Must be hungover hehe! And also I recognised a familiar face from the past.I am also a Mark Owen's fan and the drummer that is now in Darren's band is a guy i saw playing for Mark Owen as well, I know cus my friend Nin fancied him ;).Hehe!!Ok, so sound check without Darren at one point we are asked to move away and while we wait from afar the rain is still soaking me wet as wet as i can get!I was dripping all over and my hair were all a mess and my make up gone, I guess i kinda had 8 or 10 showers while i was waiting. And then we made our usual way first row and waited some more time for Darren.Besides Darren I have to mention, there was also a friend of mine giving a speech, Christine from Latvia, and I have to say I was really happy to see her and giving her speech. It was too messy to come and say hello but anyway.. you saw me Chris, hope to see you soon!!Now... Darren "he is moving better than JT" Hayes rocked the now filled up square and I felt very proud as a fan who has been there for all this years and hoped all the luck for my fave artist to see how much people loved him.He is ace, no messing about. He sang I Want You, On The Verge of Something Wonderful, Me Myself and I and Baby I am a Star / Popular. He danced!!! Oh my goodness I was so impressed, I never thought he could move so well :OI really danced all the time myself and had a blast.Unfortunately I had to go away shortly after Chris speech as my babies back at home needed me so I joined Em, and the other girls and headed for the venue where Darren was performing later on in the night to say hello to a few friends and then go home.I was amazed when I saw Holly from US, my BNI tour buddy there, I wished that i could stay but hopefully i will see her again soon. She is gorgeous full stop! Then after all the excitement I walked a bit around Soho and soaked in the amazing atmosphere, I pulled a guy who was making portraits but as he wasn't my cup of tea i didn't give him a number...:pI was starving so i went back to Victoria Station to get some food a rest a bit after all that standing. Afterwards it was time to leave London. My heart always aches when I do almost in the same way it does when I leave Rome.I dunno why but that city holds my heart in its hands and I suppose one day I will move there. I hope so anyway. The trip was uneventful i had something to read and the coach isn't comfy enough to sleep although i was in a state of semi-unconsciousness.There was a guy who kept staring at me all the time... kinda annoying and made me nervous. It was just midnight when i made it too Manchester, and it wasn't easy to find a taxi cus it was Saturday night.Weren't I so knackered I would have thrown myself into Canal street and had some fun but I could barely keep my eyes open and i so needed a hot shower and dry clothes! Finally I got myself a taxi and made it home, not before falling flat on my belly tripping on a branch while crossing the small park in front of my house: TIPICAL!I was still suffering from London/Darren/ Friend's withdrawal but as soon as i saw my iccle furry babies i just felt ok, i fed em and went to bed and slept for the next 8 hours, I woke up to watch Hollyoaks omnibus and then i was back in Morpheus' arms. That's it about about, I can't wait for the Manchester Pride now!!!Izx
