Don't get me wrong, I love a good cause. But doesn't it seem kind of silly that big companies are giving so much public support to the AIDS Project RED campaign and completely ignoring bigger problems... like global warming? It's great that the big, powerful entreprenurial Powers that Be are doing something admirable, but I personally see climate problems as a much larger immediate problem. After all, AIDS won't hurt us if we all starve to death because our crops won't grow. I'm not even saying that Project RED should be getting any less support than it's getting... I just think that it's an example of how much corporate America could be doing for the climate crisis, but isn't.So anyway, I was looking at my "Top Albums this Month" on my MOG and I saw Clarity by Jimmy Eat World. I was a little confused since I haven't listened to it in a really long time, but I was happy to see it up because it's really a great album. Even if you're not a fan of JEW based on their later contributions (Bleed American and Futures), you should give Clarity a chance. It's a more diverse album with a totally different feel. You can tell that they were all younger when they made it, but it doesn't make it sound less put-together...just different. The harder songs are a little more raw and his voice is less polished than it is on later albums, and the softer songs have a hypnotic quality that I just don't see in their more recent stuff. It's a great CD for driving, or at least I think so. Here is a sample for your auditory pleasure. I am leaving to take a trip up to Rhode Island to visit Brown! I hope you all enjoy your music until I return on Tuesday. :)

  1. dj ivi says oh i so agree with that! i am pretty sick of gap's red campaign, and it seems like they are championing a human issue because humans buy their junk.

  2. MrFrost says Africa has only 12% of the words population, but 60% of the HIV cases. Its wiping out the entire continent. Im not sure its a good idea to divert any attention from the little support they're getting already. Alot of these people wont even be alive in 10 years, let alone 50 when we have a global warming disaster. Theres plenty of resources to go around for both causes to be addressed without taking funds from the other.

I agree with you and hope you weren't offended. I did not by any means suggest that attention should be diverted from the AIDS crisis or the RED campaign. In fact, I said nearly the same thing that you did. Perhaps you didn't see that.
