AY DIOS MIO!

I have sinned deeply. I haven't MOGged in... 31 days. Officially. However, it's the season of giving and a year of new beginnings, so I have hope that you'll all forgive me. Whether or not you do, I'm back! At first I got really swamped by school, and then I had holiday break but my mom decided to make my laptop a resident of the kitchen counter for the week so she could check her e-mail more easily. Everything's under control now, though. My computer is mine once again and I can continue to MOG in peace. So, for my first post in 2007 I want to wish everyone a happy, healthy, hopeful and fulfilling new year. May you all have the ambition to make good new year's resolutions and the drive to keep them. For me this new year was different... it was the first one when I actually sat back to think about what was going to happen to me in the year to come. All my friends got together and hung out and counted down as the ball dropped and when it was over I could sense that I wasn't the only one feeling different. It was like suddenly we all realized just how old we're getting; for all of us (except for my friend's boyfriend who's a senior) 2007 will be the year that we take our SAT's, begin senior year, apply to colleges, and, more or less, get our acts together so we can start our real lives. Real life. What a concept. Hah. Daunting and inviting and shrouded in mystery. We really aren't kids anymore, I guess. So of course the song I associate with New Year's Eve/Day is The New Year by Death Cab. This is probably one of the most over-tagged songs this week, but so be it. My favorite part is"So everybody put your best suit or dress on,Let's make believe that we are wealthy for just this once.Lighting firecrackers off on the front lawnAs thirty dialogues bleed into one."I think it captures the feeling of the new year pretty well... overlooking the little things in life for a few hours and just being with the people that make you happy. The feeling of togetherness and conjoined hope that something good will come our way. The fleeting moment of faith and unity in a world full of mistrust and isolation.I hope you all got that feeling this New Year. Cheers, from me to you.
