So I Kind of Disappared...

Sorry I kind of disappeared there. Relatives, yard work and a self-advertising campaign has been preoccupying me of late. For most of that time, I actually became unhealthfully obsessed with the Miami Vice soundtrack, especially the King Britt track, "New World in My View." I might have to get that Sister Gertrude album...Anyway, most of those preoccupations are gone and so too is my Miami Vice obsession. I'm kind of back in the mood for The Most Serene Republic/Broken Social Scene/Sigur Ros as those were the primary albums I was digging last year at this time, but I've also been finding some new artists via the Facebook+iTunes promotion. One that I particularily love and have subsequently picked up the full album via eMusic is The Submarines. If you haven't heard (of) them, you must, especially for their "Peace and Hate" track.The Submarines - Peace and HateThat's all for now. I'll probably be keeping busy with this campaign for this design competition, so more after that jump.

    iwantsomecouch says Thanks for the encouragement...we arrive a few days before the convention starts, and the 10 finalists will have some yet "unknown tasks" to fufill during that time, which will determine the 5 who continue on. At the convention's Friday lunch, attendees will be shown the top 5's videos and footage from the tasks and they'll chose 3 from the 5. Then at Saturday's dinner, the top 3 will be announced and they get internships/jobs at either the San Jose Mercury News, the Arizona Republic or the Orlando Sentinel, determined by placement. So basically, it's like The Apprentice, but for design. It's going to be amazing and I absolutely cannot wait...

    Jess Horrible says unknown tasks, eh? hope you don't have to eat goldfish. this is such a cool competition. so, what if you get a job in another state, do you have to move there?

    iwantsomecouch says Haha, yeah, and I'm wondering if it were to happen, how that would all play out. Most of those places are a long way from Michigan, so if I were lucky enough, it'd be quite a haul.

    iwantsomecouch says Haha, wow. Count on the MOG community to help this campaign along. I never even thought of haivng people on here do it, but by all means, go for it! I'd love to see a ton of submissions...
