All ten songs on the album were originally recorded at New York City sessions produced by Phil Ramone. With Columbia set to release the LP, Dylan pulled back at the last minute, and at year's end re-recorded five of the ten songs in Minneapolis with a crew of area session musicians assembled by his brother, David Zimmerman. Sound quality is the expected for a mint condition acetate test pressing, but not as clear or sharp as could be a remastered studio tape. These songs are less polished and have a "work in progress" feel. I particularly like the alternate lyrics and the unpolished feel. Blood on the Tracks, in my estimation, has never been anything but an unqualified classic!

I agree.Sometimes to much polish causes a song to lose it's connection to the heart that created it and in so doing, lessens it's emotional impact.
