Named for the formative location in lead singer John Wozniak's childhood, the Marcy Open grade school in Minneapolis, Marcy Playground emerged in the late 1990s.
This song, taken from "Shapeshifter" their second album, is reminiscent of a '60s classic rock tune and was released in 1999. An interesting fact is that lead singer and guitarist John Wozniak wrote this song at age 15. I can detect the Neil Young influence here and it's all good.

Very cool song-never heard of them before. I will be on the lookout for this.
I didn't know the lead singer was from Mpls. I remember them from the late 90s -- there was a bit of buzz for awhile. Good song.
Defnitely Neil Young influenced. The guys voice is very much like NY's.
Great sound. Thanks
its been hard for me to listen to them since this song came out---sex and candy
they payed that price - though I'm sure the coin was nice
they do have a decent catalog and Joh is a pretty talented guy.
Typically I would think of something witty tom say abut the band or the tune that you posted but this time I think I will just go listen to Shapeshifter and maybe comment later.
Sounds like they did themselves an injustice making their name on sex and candy instead of work like this.
Agreed with MusicRX, for sure!! THAT song was brilliant (Rebel Sodville), and I have to admit I never really understood why Sex and Candy was so popular.
Wellllll, I've never had much of a sweet tooth but as for the first half of your question :-)
Haha!! I guess I should have said "Sex&Candy" ;)
