Buckethead has surely made up a name for himself over the past decade. It is hard to tell, however, if he draws more attention for the Bucket he wears on his head and mask on his face, or for the fretboard he so gracefully lights up. Sadly, I believe it is the first.
Buckethead does an excellent job of fusing blues, rock, and hints of jazz into this album. His phrasing is beautiful, and proves himself much more worthy than mindless shredders of the past decade (i.e. John Petrucci). This man makes the guitar cry.
There is not one song I do not thoroughly enjoy on this album, but if I had to choose a few standout tracks, they would be "Too Many Humans" and "Earth Heals Herself". I hope that in following years, that this album becomes influential to both guitarists and musicians around the world. Its a shame this artist is more often laughed at for his bucket, than praised for his virtuostic ability on the guitar. Five Stars. Easy

Here is "Earth Heals Herself"
My guess is, unless he does away with the bucket -gimmick thing altogether soon, he will be recognized more for his virtuostic ability posthumously....
Yeah, he has a real gift for improvisation and melody. Think he did some collaborations with Bill Laswell. Of course, he had too much in musical chops to be acceptable to Axl Rose; I think his contributions to Chinese Democracy ended up on the cutting room floor. Wonder what Slash thinks...
A metalhead friend of mine forced a Buckethead CD on me a couple of years ago, and it is UNBELIEVABLE. I was amazed and impressed by the eclecticism and flexiblity of this guy. I mean, he plays jazz, classical, and rock all at once, and.....I swear to God....I even put Buckethead on at night and fall asleep to it. I'm with you guys; he's way too talented to be wearing a chicken box on his head!
eccentric genius?
Yeah, kind of like Andy Kaufman to comedy---
there ya go!
Are you a guitarist, inrumford? This is some fine work- I didn't even know he had released any solo discs. You could get lost in this. Whatever made him join Axl for a time? Thanks for sharing this!
"Electric Tears" is other Buckethead disc, Definitely worth a listen.
