Can't Say What I Mean

Posted over 3 years ago

One of my favorite music genres - pop -is always a superb antidote for a gloomy mood or day or just about anything in the gloom arena. Gloom cannot exist in a quality pop tune.

This revelation came upon me while giving the Kaiser Chief's latest effort it 9th or 10th listen. (I've lost count)

From Rolling Stone:

The Kaiser Chiefs are Britain's most political pop group at the moment, although it may be hard to tell. There are no big-headline issues, no sides to take on the British band's third album. The power struggles boiling over in Andrew White's melodic-garage guitars and the chant-along choruses led by singer Ricky Wilson are mostly everyday boy-girl theater and pub-crawl routine. One song, "Can't Say What I Mean," is a hot blitz, with curdled organ and fat, crusty guitar, about being tongue-tied.

I respectfully disagree with Rolling Stone. Badly mediocre, mediocrely bad, and I'm very disappointed! Now where's my Employment....

You gave it 10 listens, wow! I could barely give it 2 :(

I don't set my expectations quite as high as you Miss Anna. Given what's out there these days, adjustments are necessary ;-) Now, where's my drink.....

Bands set their own standards along with their degree of compromise

We. how ever, are burdened each with our own expectations which to some extent, also have room for compromise

Has anyone seen my salt shaker??
