WayBack Wednesday - Seems Wednesday is early this week... :-)
-
Artist:

This is their self titled 1966 release.
Despite the references to Boston and the Charles River in "Dirty Water," The Standells are not from Massachusetts. (How many here thought they were?) Nevertheless, "Dirty Water" is still played after every home victory won by the Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics, Boston Bruins, and Northeastern Huskies hockey games. The song was written by the band's producer, Ed Cobb, who hailed from New England, and the Boston and Charles River references are reportedly based on an experience of Cobb and his girlfriend with a mugger in the mid 1960s.

Hey! This is...........proof. The Standels were most deserving of their one hit wonder status
From Sometimes Good Guys Don't Wear White:
"Good guys, bad guys, which is which?
The white-collar worker or the digger in the ditch?"
I thought he said something completely different. Thank you for setting me straight Google.
One can hear why they were one hit wonders but what a great hit it was.
