WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Summer Day Reflections

Posted about 1 year ago

As summer in these parts begins to slowly fade, I came across this collection of tunes aptly named "Summer Day Reflection Songs

It is a UK 2-CD compilation from 'the British Invasion's answer to Bob Dylan' and contains all of Donovan's Pye output before he dumped his label and hooked up with Mikey Most.

It is certainly worth a trip in the wayback machine

Donovan's early output was a bit.....limp, in the eyes of some.  I think that assesment is unfair, and mostly untrue.

The early stuff has aged better than the Mickey Most era. After Mickey, it all went to hell.

What they say is true.  This cut, like many of his, doesn't have "instant hit" written all over it, but still has timeless beauty.
