WayBack Wednesday - Ooh La La

Album:

While they were together, the Faces never sold that many records and were never considered as important as the Stones, yet their music has proven extremely influential over the years.
On Long Player and A Nod Is as Good as a Wink, the Faces were a well-oiled machine at the peak of their powers. Here they're trying to rev up -- they get there, but it's possible to hear the effort, as some of the songs fall just a little bit short of memorable. But there are some extraordinary moments here, including Rod's "Silicone Grown" and the wonderful "Cindy Incidentally," a sweet, easy pop song. But the heart of this album really belongs to Ronnie Lane, who dominates the second side of the album, starting with the Stewart collaboration "If I'm on the Late Side" and running through the sweet, soft "Glad and Sorry" to "Just Another Honky" and, finally, to the raucous yet bittersweet "Ooh La La," as great a song as they ever recorded and an appropriate drawing of the curtain on this tremendous band.

Mr Stewart has come a long way since then. Downward.
Good funk here IRF.
Great music for Wayback Wednesday, Inrumford. I think I have both A Nod Is as Good as a Wink and Ooh La La on vinyl some where or I did have them both.
The soundtrack for Rushmore is excellent, and Ooh la La is one of the many greats on there........
Nice post/reminder of some great tunes!
Yes,, always great to hear them again. I pulled out Long Player not long ago and loved it all over again.
Ha! On with the show!
One of my favorite concerts was the tour the Faces did for Long Player. Drove to Cleveland from Detroit in '71 to see that concert..... after Oh La La Ron Wood left for the Stones and the band never seemed the same again but they were a tight band then.
If Im on the late sides acoustic guitar intro is a favourite. The keyboards and drums bleed perfectly into it. Five guys walk into a bar was long overdue as is the recognition these guys as a band (including Mr Stewart )deserve.
I am with you on that my friend...
