Karate - Pockets
-
Artist:

Karate was an indie "jazz" band formed in Boston, Massachusetts in 1993 by Geoff Farina, Eamonn Vitt and Gavin McCarthy. In 1995, Jeff Goddard joined the band as bass player, and Vitt moved to second guitar. Vitt departed Karate to pursue a medical career in 1997.
Farina developed hearing problems due to twelve years of performance with Karate and was forced to disband the group in July 2005. Their final show was played in Rome, Italy, on July 10, 2005.
A wash of supple percussion; and fluid dynamic shifts interleaved with cadenced, organic guitar solos.

I really love the music.. however the lead vocalist does not do the music justice.
I've heard this style before, but the vocalist(s) had a better blended tamber than this guy... He just does not blend well...
CONCRETE is the best he does to blend in....
Maybe that is the way they wanted the sound to be? who knows...
I have to agree with Kori about the vocals. They just don't seem to work but the music is great.
ditto ... nice music :)
yeah, I like it! My favorite was the second one......catchy.
Good stuff, inrumford.
As a side note - I'm also a fan of the real art of karate ;-)
fantastic band Rummy, I am a big fan of their work!! Can't believe I missed this one, but I came back to pay my respects!!
better late than never :-)
too bad the mp3 players don't play anymore. I don't think I've heard Concrete
:)
I love the discordance of guitars. The constant of the underlying bass. About his voice--it soften the blow-I like his singing, almost talk quality. The music tells the story, I like this alot! Thanks madrid for bringing this back to life.
nothin' like a resurrection!
I love the drums in Concrete, very precise. Very good song, I respecially like the guitar solo, where he turns on the tremelo or whatever its called. I need to pick up Pockets! :)
