Canned Heat rose to fame because their knowledge and love of blues music was both wide and deep. Emerging in 1966, Canned Heat was founded by blues historians and record collectors Alan "Blind Owl" Wilson and Bob "The Bear" Hite. Drawing on an encyclopedic knowledge of all phases of the genre, the group specialized in updating obscure old blues recordings. Applying this bold approach, the band attained two worldwide hits, "On The Road Again" in 1968 and "Going Up The Country" in 1969. These were inspired interpretations of the late 1920s blues recordings by Floyd Jones and Henry Thomas. For more, follow the link...

Good stuff.
Always loved those dudes.
If "The Bear" hadn't gone so soon, who knows how big they would have been now. Loved his unique vocal style and of course their boogie.
If you'll allow me to tag on, I always liked this one too.
always welcome in my posts Doc...
I remember listening to them with my siblings ... they were 'all that' back then!!! :)
Sorry, that unique vocal style was always a turnoff for moi.
hey, what made ya think of theze guyz?? :)
funny, their Woodstock performance is etched in my brain since early teens...back then, could never why anyone would want to listen to them - except for that one chant...but now I really get it.
I always liked these dudes..I liked 'em even more after I found this out. DMDM started me on my path to knowledge that time.
Canned Heat is some great blues. Vocals aren't a turnoff at all for me, not when the music is that good.
I hear ya there!
On The Road Again came on the jukebox last night in the bar and it was so cool, good post, the vocals in this song are excellent! and the horn is just mesmerizing.
