Track:
Written by The Miracles members Smokey Robinson and Ronald White, the song became the Temptations' first U.S. number-one single, and is today their signature song. Robinson's inspiration for writing this song was his wife, Miracles member Claudette Rogers Robinson. Otis gets props for this cover. This got me to thinkin 'bout My Girl and I added a few more in comments. Anyone got more??

Are You Gonna Be My Girl

My choice is definitely Stevie Ray, but that probably goes without saying.

and no men
a room full of men and lookin' for women
'shouldnt you be with men?"
my girl asked
"no i should be with women " i replied
It seems you covered most of the best "girl" songs but I did find one. Yardbird's "A Certain Girl"
Lyrics | A Certain Girl lyrics
A Bobby Fuller song I've never heard. Cool.
Wizillusions: the Yardbirds' " A Certain Girl" is a cover of an Allen Toussaint (credited, for copyright reasons, to his mother Naomi Neville) song recorded in New Orleans by Ernie K-Doe in November 1961. Bass vocals here are by Benny Spellman of "Fortune Teller" fame
Gracias, Baudolino. This is now in my iTunes shopping cart. I'm loving finding the originals behind Brit Invasion covers.
There are a few I could post, including a polka number called My Girl Polka- but I'll spare you that. Instead, I'll offer this.
Thanks Doc, great addition!!
Well, I don't have the freedom right now to post a song or video, but I did think of:
"Girl" The Beatles
and "She Used to be MY Girl" by.....The O'Jays (pretty sure)
Well, and then I thought of this other song that I HATE ---I mean, REALLY HATE, but the title still fits with your theme:
"Girls, Girls Girls" Motley (gag) Crue
Oh yeah!
"Hey Girl" by Donny Osmond, heheh....although I know he covered it from someone else
