From the dregs of a (to put it kindly) "mixed reviews" film by Dennis Hopper rises (IMHO) an incredible sound track that mates John Lee Hooker and Miles Davis - yes an incredibly inspired and sonically jaw dropping (and all too brief) mating. We can also throw Taj Mahal into the mix, just for good measure.
To me, this is just an incredible tease, simply knowing it is a one off, never to be repeated.

One approaches this with a certain trepidation Sensei. How do these two find common ground...but here we are deep into it. Murky, smokey juke joint jam at two A.M. I like it.
My thoughts exactly! This is a CD meant for a "lights out" experience. Catch a little buzz. kick back and crank it!
Oh yeah. Its got an awesome vibe
wow, that is a solid offering if I do say so myself.
This is SEXY music.
In a word Jags, in a word
Yeah, what is it about trumpet and sax that provides the sexy vision? Or fantasy?
Holy god that IS a soundtrack.
damn straight ZZ!
A happy serendipity. Have to track down my copy of this and play the whole thing. What an unlikely combination of musicians and musical styles, but it works, it works...
What a strange and wonderful treat! And screw the "mixed" reviews. This movie was hot and cool!
The disparate parts fit together rather well. It's great when that happens.
isn't it though?
