I've posted on Taj a number of times and have come to love his eclectic musical sensibilities. This disc is no exception, running the gamut as only Taj can do.
Product Description from Amazon:
Captured back in 1988 within the intimate setting of London's legendary West End jazz haunt, Ronnie Scott's in Soho, TAJ MAHAL delivers his unique fusion of blues, soul, and world music - topped by some stunning guitar work. The album includes reworkings of classics from his past like 'Mail Box Blues' and 'Statesboro Blues' alongside his inimitable interpretations of blues standards like 'Come On In My Kitchen'.

Excellent post, great music.
I've been a fan of Taj Mahal for a long time......though there's much I haven't heard. These tracks are sweet. He's got such a natural gift & an appreciation of a wide range of music as you said, and he's entertaining as hell in concert.
@ wiz - thanks! glad you enjoyed.
@ deadmandeadman - man can work a room - no doubt. Glad you liked
Yes, great songs.....I LOVE his performance on RocknRoll Circus
Mick (Jagger, that be) saw him with his band playing at a little bar in California and just invited them to come on and be in this televised rocknroll event with them and some other major players over in Europe!
Oh, happy day
I should emphasize more how much I liked these songs (I digressed too much)----This is a first for me to hear these---really great
My favorite one of the 2 was Mail Box Blues
His appreciation of American music's depth and breadth is impressive. Enjoying the jazzy/funky blues and sound quality of these cuts.
And he gives back,too..That record he did with Etta Baker is in my top...well, it's pretty high up my list.
Etta and Taj post◄
Yeah Cody B...that cd is magic. low key down home magic.
