WE DO THE MASHED POTATO AND THE FUNKY CHICKEN

The Fine Art Of Falling Apart

Posted 9 months ago

Sometimes the bleakness of life HAS to come through.
Sometimes we need to find a place to let it dance it's dance and sing it's song.
Don't matter if it's right
Don't matter if it's wrong

The Fine Art Of Falling Apart

I walk alone and I
I ride alone and I
I rock myself to sleep
Baby, there ain't enough room in this world
For people like you
And horrors like me

A time of darkness
There lived a girl in a cave in the woods
Disguised as a bee
At night she would fly into the city
Sting the cars
And sting the cost
And she would hover over me
Whispering
And we're surfacing
We're Surfacing

I stand alone and I
I fight alone and I
Stay clean by feeling cheap
And baby, there ain't enough room in this world
For perfections like you
And monsters like me

A time of darkness
You will look absurd and you will feel it hurt
And you will go looking to blame somebody
You see I used to think that I'd get over everything
But everything just got
Over me

I'm certain of it
I'm certain of it
I'm certain of it
I'm certain of it

I walk alone and I
I ride alone and you know
That's all right by me
See baby cause
here ain't enough room in this world
For a great, great many things

I'm really getting more into Matthew Good the more I hear...... (in the 90s I was into Matthew Sweet for a while-they should tour together)

Darkness, bleakness, they DO have to be allowed to be felt, and I know in my case the tendency is to try to stifle that or run from it---which only makes it worse.  Not trying to get to too deep here but that song hit a nerve---in a constructive way.  What a great songwriter-

Right now I'm listening to a new band that I'll post later, and reading the lyrics you posted here. i imagine there's quite a difference when they're put to music, but the reading tells me that here was one depressed musician.

I'll listen later and see what I think.

It does make a difference listening to the tune, but I still feel for the guy, knowing what a tough time he's had.

and sadly, as much a part of reality as the opposite end of the spectrum.

The human brain is a complex and enigmatic entity
