Cars and Girls

Posted about 3 years ago

Shuffle popup brought back some memories. We are not breaking any musical ground here, but back in the day this tune was part of the life "soundtrack" and made me smile (no doubt in self deprecation). The song was supposed to be a response to Bruce Springsteen's perceived lyrical style and alleged narrow song repertoire. They suggest that Springsteen's worldview is too restricted and that "some things hurt more, much more, than cars and girls".

Please be kind :-)

Well, I can't argue with their philosophy, but they look so young to be burdened with the stuff of life.

Something like that. NO, we're installing a new network storage system. Big bucks. Big fears. All our data being "handled" by IT gurus. Argh

While I DO like this song, I can't help but defend The Boss a bit , heheh....yes, a lot of his songs have been about cars and girls, but also social injustice, politics (and their relation), the stupidity and hypocrisy of war and unquestioning "patriotism".
