Sifting through the previously unreleased material on the 2 cd re-release of Tumbleweed Connection and I found I really liked this version. It has more of an edge to it than the original release,

Or, it could just be this stuff I'm smoking

Thanks for posting this.  One of my all time favorite songs, and I never heard this version.  Quite a few differences, what's the difference in run time, this seems quite a bit longer?  lets the guitar air out more, drumming is livelier, synth isn't as smooth and more of a "jam" quality to it.  Liking it too, through not saying it tops the single version.  When was this recorded?  Any other Madman cuts on previously unreleased bonus material?

An apt weekend for this sweet Paul Simon tune, one I've always liked

What a timeless melody.   If out of nowhere you played it for me on the piano and told me it was Mozart or Satie or Francis Scott Key, I think I might believe you.

I thought this was an interesting segue from the previous post (from the ipod shuffle mode)

I had to chuckle

Nice version.  I couldn't find that album on allmusic.com, but it is on one of her compilations A Hundred Miles or More: A Collection, which I now am after.  I had fallen behind keeping up with her.

Fabulous track. I too wondered what album it was from. I will now look for the track on iTunes, as I own a lot of Alison's releases.

The one on iTunes (which I just bought) is from Livin' Lovin' Losin' - the Songs of The Louvin Brothers.

Sold American!
