The fact that the Furs worked with Steve Lillywhite weighed heavily in their favor. At the turn of the early 80s, Lillywhite and a handful of other up-and-coming producers were turning out the greatest in New Wave and Post Punk music including such projects as U2's October. The reality is that no matter how great a band is, a good producer at the helm is always essential to its sound and success. Without a doubt, Lillywhite helped "create" some of the greatest bands of the 80s.
