Remember a while back I did a post on Nicole Atkins, the native NJ singer-songwriter gem, with the stunning, deep voice and wicked sense of humor? And you moggers responded how she's 'fantastic', 'nice and hot' and one of you wants to work with her (fperdomo I am talking to you).
Well- Nicole Atkins has officially joined MOG- so do the Mog honors, check out her site, and give her a warm hello~!!! http://mog.com/NicoleAtkins has all her info and album stuff.
Here's her first mog post ever : http://mog.com/NicoleAtkins/blog_post/169840 - and she's serious about how she feels MOG is pretty sweet. (she told me a while back so I knew it was a matter of time) Add her as trusted amigo! Tell her you like to listen to Neptune City in {fill in blank here}. Cool!

Here's my quick snap of Nicole chilling by the old boardwarlk in Asbury Park N
Two more Nicole Atkins related News Tidbits?
1) VIDEO INTERVIEW: A couple wk ago, Nicole took me on a walking tour through her hometown of Asbury Park NJ. I mentioned I met her about a year ago and we've been buddies- but I finally got to check out the legendary Stone Pony and ask her some in-depth questions (while playing dress-up in quirky vintage store) about her work. We capture the whole walk & interview on video and it should be coming out on MOG TV soon so keep ur eyes open!
2) TOURING: Second hot hit on the richter scale is that I'm heading to the Wireless Festival in London. On July 4th, I'm gonna go around w. Nicole (who's performing..um...along with Morrissey. Kick ass) and photo-journalistically sharing the experience on Mog... a lil mog-tour-diary....giving you all a rad, behind the scenes perspective. My goal of the day is to catch Morrissey in a photo candid and coy- so cross ur fingers :) F* yeah!
Wooga- I am so excited -hope you're psyched to- it's great to be amongst good company in the Mogosphere- but I'll stop gushing and let you enjoy your friday. BUT don't forget to leave her some loving comments- showing her what Mog's all about. What the world needs now? More Love and Moggers. Yup Yup.
Happy Friday all! xx IP

Clicked on the link there... this message is what I get:
"Sorry the page you requested could not be found!" am I the only one experiencing that?
My Trusted MOGs
Can't click on it Pixie...same as above :-( Nice shot of Nichole in front of Convention Hall...how are the renovations coming along?!
My Trusted MOGs
talk about a buzz kill :) try it now mates.
Garage Rock- it was my first time there but that convention hall is gorgeous. The architecture of the whole shore area is divine- and yet the way some of it is caving in, derelict, and decrepit- just adds to the mystique. I felt I understood a lot more of Nicole's music having been there.

This is great news, Pixie.
As you may remember, my very first MOG here was about Nicole.
I'll have some more about her too! (Very soon).
Super!

Hi. I saw Nicole in concert in Ridgewood, NJ last month. She was terrific. It's pretty clear to me that she's going to be a big star in the not-too-distant future. What a voice!
Since you're going to the Wireless Festival in London, be sure to check out Howling Bells and Feeder as well as Nicole at the festival. They are both great. I did an e-mail Q&A with Juanita Stein, the lead singer of Howling Bells, a few months back. She is really cool and has a very sharp sense of humor.
Very jealous that you're going to London. It's my favorite city in the world, and I miss it terribly. Have a great time!

John from (where in) NJ? I'm in Scotch Plains...just curious...
My Trusted MOGs
indie you are a one woman A&R Dept... no doubt... goes without saying, but have fun in London! ;)
My Trusted MOGs
hey John - will be sure to give you the 411 on Howling Bells and Feeders. Psyched to roll to London- but I've actually got a pretty crazy trip planned- will share it with you moggers in a lil bit- I'm gonna need you providing me w. more tips on where to go and where not to and what sounds will soothe my ears and what sounds to avoid :)
Van- just give me a bit more time on the A & R front :) and capital. kidding. kinda :) I want to start a revolution but it happens one ear at a time.
My Trusted MOGs
...both of those things can be arranged... not really kidding either. I'll take the other ear, and together, we'll bring in both ears (and whole people) one at a time in to the fold. :)
Cheers!

Hi. In which part of London are you staying? And how long will you be there?
I've always stayed in South Kensington when I've gone to London. It's a nice area, near Kensington Gardens. I would go for a run in Kensington Gardens each morning. Good way to start the day. There are also a lot of pubs in Kensington that are less "touristy" than the ones in Central London.
Take a ride on the London Eye. (Prebook your ride tickets on their Web site; the combo ticket will give you a ride of the Eye and a quick boat cruise up and down the Thames from Westminster Bridge to Tower Bridge.) The Tate Modern on the South Bank of the Thames is worth visiting as is The Globe Theatre. If you're into fashion, the Victoria & Albert Museum is worth a look.

I am there from the 3rd till the 6th. staying at a friends place in islington. I've been many times prior tho- but I am also training for a half-marathon so any run will be much needed. Kensington Gardens is pretty gorgeous.
also sleuthing for indie underground scenes :)

Hi again. For info on indie/ungerground in London, contact Marsha Shandur at XFM London. Marsha is a DJ on XFM, which is London's alternative rock station. She sends out weekly mailers with info on gigs, in-store appearances, club nights, etc. You can e-mail Marsha at marsha@xfm.co.uk. Let her know the days you'll be in London. Marsha's on the Web at www.marshashandur.com and MySpace at www.myspace.com/marshamusic. Marsha's weekly mailers are also available in her MySpace blog.
Kensington Gardens is a great place to run. It's so peaceful there that you can't believe it's in the middle of a huge city like Lomdon. A lot of people also run on the South Bank of the Thames, particularly between Westminster Bridge and Tower Bridge.
Good luck with your half marathon and have a wonderful time on your trip. Hell, you're going to London. Of course you're going to enjoy it!

Marsha Shandur's e-mail address did not come out properly in my post above. You can find the correct e-mail address on her Web site. I guess MOG doesn't permit the posting of e-mail addresses?
