MOG MOG

WHERE MUSIC IS WORTH MORE THAN MONEY

When a friend of friend recommended me to "Love Is All," I was a bit hesitant....It's part of my nature to hate sappy EMO-suspect names....But instead, I found myself liking this Swedish post-punk group who recorded their debut in some tiny basement, and their a scratchy, raw sound. The lead singer sounds like she could either peak you on the cheek or scratch your eyes out- while the background fuzzed out guitars and frenetic drums/cymbals lend something incredibly gutsy, raw and biting. Did I mention there's also a sax member? pretty kickass.

ps on a tangent, while looking up their video, myspace threw an odd one to me: this weird frog carton to Roger Glover's "Love Is All." It kinda mad me laugh and gave me a bit of a happy buzz. (I thought he was heavy metal back in the day, no?) So I threw it in here too :) haha maybe it's cause Valentine's day is coming up....

enjoy!

A mogger (LadyC I think) hipped me to these a few month ago, I love the chaotic energy, it lends an almost organic feel

That's some Swede love, pixie... I must say it sounds a bit erratic but that's kind of endearing.

Bartleby- i've never had swede love. maybe i should convert...agreed with the bit erratic...some of their songs I really can't find love for- but the video I quite like and am thinking with a bit more professional pick-up, they could be quite splendid :)

Are you considering a career in music/band management? If so, please add me to your mailing lists. I'd like to stop hearing: "Sorry mate, your name's not down. You can't get in."

Ooo, I like! Thanks for the heads up Pix! I hear a lotta British influence. I would even say someone's an Edge fan.

I've been debating whether there is a place for a trumpet player sometimes with my band. Had an offer, and I do love trumpet. Just not sure yet. ;)

Can only here 30 secs of the stream 'cos of my Europeness, so thanks for the vids. Great sound. I can hear Clinic, too. What is going on in Sweden - the amount of rocking music coming out of that country is insane.

I agree. The Swedes are totally eating our lunch, garage-rock-wise. Thanks for the awesome tune. I really like it in spite of the band name.

I said in one of my blogs awhile ago...the Scandinavian rock scene has to be the best in the world....I swear half my music collection is from that area...

Wow...where do I start? I would definitely have you check out The Nomads (Sweden) They are one of my favorite garage/punk bands and they have been around since 1984. The Hives of course.....Mando Diao ..... Hellacopters and Backyard Babies (all from Sweden)

I LOVE the The Raveonettes (Denmark) (I posted one of their songs on the top of my page)

Turbonegro and Glucifer (both from Norway)

Flaming Sideburns and Hanoi Rocks (Finland).....

I honestly don't know why I have not moved there...

Thanks for sharing Pixie. This is all making me home sick for Sweden!

FluxC, I can tell you what's going on up there - they have a system that actually SUPPORTS arts and artists.

I second what benjimon says, especially if you like straight up, high energy rock and roll. I've got way too many nordic records in my collection too...or perhaps not enough.
