MUSIC SIGNPOSTS ON THE WEB'S LONELY ROAD

Artist:
Album:
Track:
(7)

So I posted a while ago about my excitement of Tilly and The Wall and how they created a distinct, hypnotic rhythm by substituting a drummer with a zealous tap-dancer. So I heard the San Francisco-based The Dodos, I dug their similar cadence, though their formula is different. The Dodos’ Meric Long (a former student of West African Ewe drumming...but weren't we all....), does frenetic, finger-plucking on acoustic guitar (think Gabriella y Rodrigo sans heavy thranshing), while drummer Logan Kroeber sweats out rapid tom-and-tambourine beats. The effect swells through each song....

check it out....

Who said the Dodo Bird had to be extinct. they seem very much alive to me :)

Kind of confusing as the first song to wake up to after a night on a jolly. But apreciated non the less :) mainly because it's volume level was just within the tollerance for a hangover, but still managed not to be to high pitched :p

Somebody needs to make this band a wikipedia page, always confuses me when they arn't listed :) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dodos

ok, so I just finished watching that video, while the video was jerky, (it's my fault, my computer is a piece of junk, been malfunctioning lately), the audio was just fine, it takes me back...somewhere. I like the sound, it's simplistic, but that's not a bad thing, it just means that they have real talent....I'm impressed, more than impressed, definitely gonna check them out, you always have great pics, I'm kinda sorry I've missed your latest posts, but I'm glad I caught this one, thanks again, you do the hard work of finding this great talent for us to listen to, so we don't have to....have a wonderful day, James.

Love this, Fay. I'm looking at the vid in the comments (can't see any other?) Very passionate and compelling for a sit-down performance vid, and what a rollicking, hypnotic noise. Off I go to emusic in search of an album...

I can see the vid above, yep. But I can't see a track in your post (or comments). Wouldn't have anything to do with me being in Europe? Or perhaps Mog is just on the blink again...

it's interesting how quick the first track "fools" Got under my skin I'm definitely digging it, the African influence defiantly comes true, and i like that hahhaha chant they do very tribal. and is that a bit of like south American sound, and the Flamenco Guitar playing style completes the song. great Track the singer sounds a bit like Devendra Banhart. second track i need a few more listen.
