EXCLUSIVE PHOTOS OF RADIOHEAD at SF's OUTSIDE LANDS: Rocking Through The Sound Glitches

Posted about 1 year ago

By the time Radiohead came on stage Friday night at Outside Lands, the approximately 50,000 person+ crowd had spent at least $89 dollars for a ticket, endured hours of transportation woes, a tedium of lines, jam-packed crowds, fenced-in cattle-like scenarios, and cold, frigid temperatures throughout the day in the park. But if there was ANYTHING that could ease the pain, it was Radiohead.

Battling Up The Hill to see Radiohead

Despite two jarring sound malfuctions (where all sound went out for over 40- 50 seconds, while the stage-side screens still blazed with images the band strumming and pumping onstage triumphantly- unaware of the issue)- Radiohead served as an instant sound elixir for a cold, hard festival mania. They pummeled through a two-hour plus set packed tight with classics from "Kid A", "The Bends," and "OK Computer," as well as with a splattering of "In Rainbows" newbies. True, some die-hards insist the set didn't compare to The Greek Theatre, but hell, it sure beat the radio.

as usual, your pics and recap are pretty awesome.  i also LOVE your reaction to the die-hards!  sorry we missed the Greek show, but i'll definitely be happy at the Hollywood Bowl on Sunday.

you should hop a flight here.  the Bowl's a pain to get into, but once you're there it's real nice and a hell of a lot warmer

I was wondering if they played the same setlist for every show.  It's good to see they are changing it up a bit.  Nice photos.

thanks guys....yup Zeroskilz, I've seen em 3 times on the summer festival tour and each time they've changed up the set list a bit... still pushing their new album hard but bringing back some old favorites..the type that give you shivers to hear in a massive park filled with fog! *(um fake plastic trees live? splendid).

biggest set back was the cutting out of sound. but hey, they blamed it on Radiohead's soundboard.......

Fake Plastic Trees in the fog would be outstanding.  Sorry I missed it.  That sucks about the sound though.

on the contrary, thom is the un-sexy. I think he looks like a pet rat, but man, can the dude sing! I couldn't score a San Diego ticket but was able to watch the streaming concert from Santa Barabara the next night on the Radiohead website.

I can only imagine how overwhelming it must have been live! Thanks for the great pictures!
