EXCLUSIVE PHOTOS OF MANU CHAO @ OUTSIDE LANDS: A Little Tropical Beat to Chilly San Francisco

Manu Chao Shakes It Up At Outside Lands.

Saliva & Spirit!

I fell in love with Manu Chao somewhere on the bus between Bairritz and Barcelona. It's been a love affair ever since: His beat-friendly pan-global rock is infectious and diverse; you can groove to one night and then fall into a delicious nap under a hammock in the sun while listening to it the next morning. Thus, it was good to know, Manu Chao is a thrill and a pleasure (and a rarity) to see live, as he performed yesterday at San Francisco's Outside Lands.

Manu Chao Fans of all ages

Thus this Friday at Outside Lands, he beasted onstage with bravado- unafraid to add a little 'political' punch into an energy packed smorgasbord of pan-global beat-heavy reggae-punk-rock. He's got a different facial expression to each vocab word he knows (and he knows a hand-full of languages folks). So his performance surely brightened the day yesterday at Outside Lands, as he played old favorites from Esperanza and Clandestino and newbies from his album La Radiolina.

the black and white photo makes me laugh, looks like the guy is trying to light his lighter that he forgot to put in his hand
