The Live Music Performance that never gets old......Jefferson Airplane @ Woodstock
-
Artist:
-
Track:White Rabbit - (previously unreleased, live)
I watch about a concert every other day. There are some hallmark performances and some dismal ones. But if I ever saw anything close to this, I'd be reduced to tears or drop to my knees kutowing. Let me know if you know an artist out there today that compares to this live.....(Hung-over Glastonbury folks I am looking at you)
Till then, I send out a little reminder and bit you to enjoy on this tuesday

This is great. I love watching the Woodstock footage where they go into the town and the local folks are like they took all our food and by "they" they mean hippies, like they are some vermin or something.
post it up mochacha!

;-)
HAH!
you could start by watching the rest of that concert and picking some stuff out.....Hendrix and Santana were magical moments.
i've got a big stack of live DVD's that are full concerts as opposed to short festival-style sets where artists are showing off for their peers. they may not make me cry, but among this week's faves are:
Springsteen Hammersmith Odeon, London 1975
Radiohead 27 5 94
Pink Floyd Live at Pompeii
Talking Heads' "Stop Making Sense"
The Last Waltz
The Concert for Bangladesh
I tried to find hwat I could....
Hendrix woodstock Star Spangled Banner
Santana Soul Sacrifice
Pink Floyd Live in Pompeii
The Concert for Bangladesh clips:
As for radionhead: you can watch it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZA2hyUzb9I but embedding was disabled....
Great post -- love the Airplane and late 70s Startship, but not 80s Starship! Too bad many people lose sight of the good stuff because of what came after with Mickey Thomas.
At least Grace made enough money that she can hang out at home and paint these days.
wow, girl.....you're good.
what about this one?
Festival Express
it's about a Canadian tour with the Grateful Dead, the Band, Joplin and others where they travel on a train and basically get plowed and jam. the train scenes are pretty amazing since you see things like all of them drinking and playing. i guess after years of drug use, they discovered the beauty of alcohol consumption. no sex scenes, just watching artists playing off stage and on.
This is my favorite Jefferson Airplane cover.
You've touched a nerve with this one - the Airplane remain one of my favourite bands and I have loads of live concerts on mp3. Go to Wolfgang's Vault and you can find quite a few where the band are truly in flight. That Woodstock clip is a gas - especially since Grace was off her head on acid.
I'm not a big DVD person - I prefer my live experience as an audio thrill. To that end, Jimi Hendrix at Winterland in October 68 is special - all six shows. The band were celebrating their 2d birthday and although it's more or less the same set across all shows, they play it completely different every time. (Wolfgang's Vault again.) Neil Young at the Hammersmith Odeon in 1976 is way out there - the first time he dropped the huge noise and feedback assault we now know and love. Several Litle Feat concerts, some recent Robert Plant and Alison Krauss....get some good to great musicians playing and in touch with their muse and I'm seduced.
ay-Z at Glastonbury is doing it for me right now. That was amazing. He's in London on Thursday and I'm working out how to and who to scam for a ticket.
couldnt find it... but this is cool home footage of hippies on the way to woodstock
I absolove RAVI SHANKAR at Monterey POp Festival. My favorite next to the Hendrix setting guitar on fire footage....it is awesome
I always felt just the vibe from Woodstock was so incredble that a lot of the performances just seemed that much more intense. If I am ever flipping through the channels and a woodstock doc. comes on, I am forced to sit and watch the entire thing.
I think this might qualify:
most of you have probably seen this already, but for those who haven't it's worth a look and a laugh.
