Here's another cut from our upcoming (1st) album. The song is James, by Pat Metheny. We always joke that it must have been written by a guitarist, since there's no damn rests anywhere in the song (a little tough for a horn player, since do have to breathe from time to time!)
Kind of a different sound with horns. I did hear a version of this on a recent album by Roy Haynes recorded at the Artist's Quarter in St. Paul, MN.
Hope you like it...

My Trusted MOGs
ya know, i never thought of that. horn players do need more rests. i try to pay attention to how music differs when played on different instruments. that's why some songs i write on guitar, some on keys. but i actually hadn't thought of what a horn player would need in a song. thanks for droppin that little bit of insight!

dj Ivy,
Yes, its a unique instrument to guitar/strings because of that! :)
It does lend to phrasing that might be similar to that of a vocalist, because of the same need.
I know some bassists that take breaths when they're soloing to help them with natural phrasing, and I'm sure that's why you hear some pianists singing (sometimes sounds like moaning!) in the background.
Thanks for the comment
