David Bowie & Afghanistan- Golden Years?

Last weekend the New York Times Week in Review featured a misleading story on the "Golden Years" of Afghanistan. I was there; they're weren't a golden age. They were kind of Bronze Age. Elisabeth Bumiller, the writer, was once voted the Worst Campaign Journalist of 2004. She's gotten worse with time-- unless her beat is Moth Goose tales. I've got the full Afghanistan version of this story at DownWithTyranny-- including a report from today's Independent, the U.K. newspaper, about the 3 fallacies that are driving the war in Afghanistan... and that look likely to driven Obama's administration over the cliff. But I wanted to share a little Bumiller inspiration I had this morning in the form of a familiar David Bowie classic.
