When The Sex Pistols got together and started putting out records, there weren't many radio djs in the U.S. who would even consider their music. But their songs were all #1 on the KSAN program I co-hosted. And when they toured America they came on the show as our guests and we went to Winterland to see what turned out to be their last-ever concert. "Anarchy in the U.K." was their first single (Nov., 1976) and the following May they released "God Save the Queen," which was immediately banned by the BBC-- and enshrined them forever in the annals of rock'n'roll, far more than their recent induction into the embarrassing Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame enterprise. Today is the anniversary of the destructive and bigoted policy known as Don't Ask Don't Tell. Hopefully this will be it's last anniversary. But I want to dedicate this song to all the viciously homophobic Republican closet queens like Lindsey Graham, David Dreier, Patrick McHenry, and Mitch McConnell who are coming out of their closets over the next two years. You ladies will need God to save you!
