WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

The Fall Of One Of The Greats

I remember a time when RHCP was an innovative band with exciting music. Their style was dynamic and very colorful at a time when most of what we were hearing was the same grungy-seattle-flannel'd style. They were like a funky breath of fresh air ya know?Fast-forward to post-2000. Their style is all-but-gone! Everything from "Californication" on has been exactly the same song and dance. Repetitions kindergarten-style musings about California this and that, Some Girl this and that over and over ad nauseum. Nowadays I can't stand to hear _any_ of their music. It makes me feel ill. They used to be .... musicians. */me pours out a lil' liquor*

  2. lemontwist says I'm with you. I loved Blood Sugar Sex Magick and really enjoyed One Hot Minute, but everything since has been so much of a let down. I'm even tempted to change the radio station when their new songs are played.

  3. Deathtrooper says I don't agree with you, I mean It happened to U2, but specially AFI, which was like from being a great punk band from the 90's to a very gay assed emo sounding band. But RHCP matured and so did their sound. It sucks that that they changed their sound, but sometimes, It's all good! If you actually listened to the whole CD (I'm guessing you did) listen to 21st Century, Hump de Bump, Charlie, Storm in a Teacup, and others, you can still find a spark of Blood Sugar Sex Magik in there. Even in Californication with Around the World and Purple Stain. In By the Way, I didn't see it much but only Can't Stop with that funky ass bass line by the end and in By the Way. A little melodic RHCP wouldn't hurt either because John Frusciante is like becoming the next fucking Hendrix. Example: Spanish Castle Magic Solo by Hendrix, could've sworn that was Johnny F. if I didn't know Hendrix played it.
